Yamaha P-95 is kind of an old model today, and if you don’t know yet, it has been updated with Yamaha P-105 that we have ever discussed in the previous article, which packs a great upgrade. However, if you still insist on considering Yamaha P-95 instead, here you go! We have written a review about it here so that you can have a general view of what the product has and has not. Indeed, due to being an older model, Yamaha P-95 is significantly cheaper.
Yamaha P-95 still uses Advanced Wave Memory (AWM) Sound Engine, not the latest technology because there is Pure CF Sound Engine already, but is still reliable. It sounds great, bright and vivid, and realistic. It adapts to your playing method, not only sounding louder with more force to the stroke, but also delicately changing in timbre. It has 64-note polyphony, decent enough to provide smooth performance for multiple simultaneous strokes in a fast-paced piece.
The keyboard already uses Graded Hammer System (GHS), so it really resembles the nature of an acoustic grand piano. You can even adjust its touch sensitivity to the point of your preference, as it comes with four choices of weight configurations: hard, medium, soft, and fixed. It has 88 keys, so we can be sure that it can handle almost anything from the repertoire. Interestingly, it comes in quite a light weight with only about 26.5 lbs. of mass. Yamaha P-95 is already packed with digital sound effects and features, including a built-in recorder and a dual mode.
Unfortunately, Yamaha P-95’s speakers are just so-so. With 2 x 6 Watts of power, the audio amplification is usually sufficient for home usage but not for gigs. Thankfully, there is a stereo output port so that we can connect it to another sound system. Even so, it does not possess USB port, so you may need to get yourself a USB to MIDI adapter if you wish to make Yamaha P-95 integrates with your computer well.
