People tend to consider having Williams Allegro due to its very affordable nature. It can be a decent full-size keyboard at a very low price. However, it provides only the basics, which is fine for beginners and some intermediates, but not for more advanced users.
We will start by reviewing the keyboard. The manufacturer said it uses hammer action, which is true. The keys are properly weighed, seemingly using springs, thus making them pleasant to the touch especially an organist’s touch. Most pianists may prefer actual weights on the keys instead of springs, though, but Williams Allegro’s keys are still acceptable. But, springs tend to break down much faster than actually weighed keys, so durability for long-term usage can be a concern here. Furthermore, you should be aware that they keys here are not graded! Which means, they are not configured to have heavier keys on the low notes and lighter keys on the bright notes. There is a touch of realism, but not so apparent. If you want to get used to acoustic piano’s characteristics, you should consider digital pianos with GHS keyboard.
Even so, we are delighted by the fact that Williams Allegro supports up to 64-note polyphony. Many pricier models don’t even have 40-note polyphony, so this is a strong plus point. Williams Allegro comes with 8 voices consisting of two pianos, two electric pianos, two organs, an upright bass, and strings. Well, you should not expect for some captivating piano-sampled sounds here. They sound adequate to please some but not good enough for most musicians. It comes with the pedal, but not with the stand. Williams Allegro has MIDI input and output, but no USB. Overall, Williams Allegro is a nice budget alternative for starters.
