Mahogany is famous for mellow sounds; tender, smooth, and warm. Epiphone DR-100 can have very pronounced mids, full lows, and soft highs. Meanwhile, the neck is glued and is also made of mahogany, while the fingerboard is certainly of rosewood. The scale length is of standard size, 25.5-inch. About Yamaha FG700S
Actually, Yamaha FG700S may seem quite similar to Epiphone DR-100. It is also an affordable 6-string acoustic guitar designed sophisticatedly for beginners. However, it has a nato body and a solid Sitka spruce top. Nato is often called as “eastern mahogany” due to the origin and the similarities to mahogany. Thus, Nato can sound very identical to mahogany, though there is a distinctive tonal characteristic that separates the two. Nato sounds somehow slightly crispier than mahogany. Both Epiphone DR-100 and Yamaha FG700S are excellent entry-level acoustic guitars, great for beginners. Epiphone DR-100 sounds warmer, while Yamaha FG700S sounds crispier.
