Choosing between Audio-Technica AT2020 and Audio-Technica AT2035 can be quite tricky. The Similarities
Both products are cardioid condenser studio microphones with fixed-charge back plates and permanently polarized condensers. The polar pattern is pretty standard for the musical industry, as a cardioid polar pattern picks up sounds the best from the front side with a decently wide pickup angle, usually around 130 degrees. Sounds coming off-axis will be attenuated. This configuration is very good for reducing ambient noise. Furthermore, Audio-Technica AT2020 and Audio-Technica AT2035 each has a frequency response range of 20 Hz – 20 kHz. The range is adequately versatile; they can produce solid and full bass as well as clean and detailed treble. Richer in Features
The difference between them is that Audio-Technica AT2035 is richer in features than Audio-Technica AT2020. Well, you can say that Audio-Technica AT2035 is the enriched version of Audio-Technica AT2020. On the more expensive model, there are switchable 80 Hz high-pass filter and 10dB pad. The bass roll-off can be beneficial for vocals by significantly reducing low-frequency noises like breath sounds and wind. Meanwhile, the 10 dB pad allows the mic to receive a maximum input sound level of 158 dB SPL, quite considerably higher than Audio-Technica AT2020’s maximum input sound level of 144 dB SPL.

Audio-Technica AT2035 also has lower noise level than Audio-Technica AT2020, so it is able to deliver cleaner and more accurate audio reproduction. These microphones have similar body diameters, but Audio-Technica AT2035 is slightly taller and heavier than Audio-Technica AT2020. Last but not least, both mics require phantom power. Audio-Technica AT2020 requires 48V phantom power while Audio-Technica AT2035 can take 11–52V phantom power.
