Samson Meteor Vs Go Mic

Samson Meteor
Samson Meteor is claimed as a studio-grade condenser microphone featuring a large 25mm diaphragm. Samson Meteor features a cardioid polar pattern, which means that it captures sounds the best from the front while attenuating other sounds coming off-axis from the sides and the rear. It has a smooth and flat frequency response range of 20 Hz – 20 kHz, generating such a neutral and accurate audio reproduction. It captures sounds very well and is not very colored, making it ideal for keeping the tonal characters of the sounds. Also, it records in industry-standard qualities, with 16-bit of bitrate and a selectable 44.1 kHz or 48 kHz sampling rate. There is a stereo 1/8” headphone jack for direct monitoring with zero latency. There are also onboard headphone volume control and mic mute switch. Samson Meteor connects to a device via USB and works plug-and-play.

Samson Go Mic
Samson Go Mic is also a USB plug-and-play condenser microphone that is compatible with multiple platforms. Compared to Samson Meteor, Samson Go Mic is a lot more compact and portable. It is very small and lightweight. It can be clipped to a laptop, or put to stand on a desk. However, it only records in 16-bit/44.1-kHz resolution. Samson Go Mic features two selectable cardioid and omnidirectional pickup patterns. The frequency response range extends from 20 Hz to 18 kHz. It also has a stereo 1/8” audio output jack for direct monitoring, but has no onboard controls.

Decision
If you specifically need the mic for musical recording, then you should choose Samson Meteor. The wider frequency response range and more controls are very beneficial for the purpose. However, Samson Go Mic is the way for field recording and interviews, as the multiple polar patterns makes it a lot more flexible and versatile.
