Design
Perhaps you need to acknowledge first that Boss DD7 and TC Electronic FlashBack have been designed quite differently from each other. Boss DD7, like many other Boss loopers, are buffered bypass, which means that the device can change your guitar tone even if it is not activated. However, a lot of users have praised the product in a way or another for not affecting the tone too much. Boss DD7 may suck the tone a little bit and breathe some warmth, but not too much. On the other hand, TC Electronic FlashBack is a true bypass. The users particularly love TC Electronic FlashBack for being able to retain the original tone of the guitar, activated or not. Features
Both loopers have stereo input and output. Boss DD7 boasts for having an expanded delay time of up to 6.4 seconds, while TC Electronic FlashBack has a delay time of ‘only’ 6 seconds. Nonetheless, both models are able to perform the task equally well.
Boss DD7 is packed with features. It comes with two delay modes: Modulation Delay for chorus-flavored sounds, and Analog Delay that mimics the typical warmth of the popular classic Boss DM-2. All in all, both products are indeed good products. They have their own advantages and weaknesses. However, we recommend you to opt for TC Electronic FlashBack, because its true bypass allows the looper to be a lot more versatile. It is also simpler and more practical to use.
