Are you looking for a decent budget-friendly guitar amp with adequate power? Well, Peavey Vypyr VIP 1 and Fender Mustang I are two guitar amps that are available in the same price range on the market. A lot of people love these guitar amps because of their affordability and satisfying performance. However, between these two models, which one should you get? Let’s compare them to answer your question!
First of all, both Peavey Vypyr VIP 1 and Fender Mustang I are both 20-Watt in power. Peavey Vypyr VIP 1 comes with a specially voiced 8” modeling speaker, and is powered by the combination of a powerful 32-bit floating-point SHARC processor and a patented TransTube analog circuitry. As the effect, Peavey Vypyr VIP 1 is typically popular because of the excellent sound solidity across the frequencies. Peavey Vypyr VIP 1 is able to provide you with decent high gain, while the bass can stay full and accurate. Compared to Fender Mustang I, Peavey Vypyr VIP 1 has better bottom-end. On the other hand, Fender Mustang I also features 20-Watt power and 8” speaker, but it is not able to deliver sound solidity as good as Peavey Vypyr VIP 1. The sounds are somehow less defined, and the bass is especially not as powerful. Anyhow, Fender Mustang I indeed has an excellent clean tone performance.
Most people love Fender Mustang I especially because of the FUSE Software. The amp is designed specially to work integratively with the software in order to provide the fullest functionality. With the software, you will be able not only to control your amp through your computer, but also to craft and weave your own tones and effects, as well as edit and record your plays. By simply turning a knob, you can choose from 17 different amp models to work with. There are various built-in effects, too, such as delay/echo, reverb, tremolo, and phaser. Fender Mustang I comes with an aux input that allows you to jam along your favorite tracks by simply plugging your audio device, and a 1/8” headphone output jack for direct monitoring that mutes the speaker output when used.
On the other hand, Peavey Vypyr VIP 1 may not come with software, but it indeed comes with a lot of built-in features. It offers 16 presets and 25 amp effects. There are 36 on-board amp models plus 6 bass amp models and 6 acoustic amp models. Those are a lot. Even further, Peavey Vypyr VIP 1 is also armed with Tap Tempo and Advanced Chromatic Tuner, on-board looper that can be very handy and beneficial, as well as extensive connectivity: bi-directional USB, aux/MP3/CD input, and studio-quality headphone output.
