Digitech RP500 and Digitech RP360XP are both guitar effect pedals that are extremely popular on the market. Design
Digitech RP500 and Digitech RP360XP are already very different from each other in terms of design. Digitech RP500 is quite a big guitar pedal. Well, to be fair, it is not exactly very big, but it is indeed bigger if compared to Digitech RP360XP. Its body is extended to the sides, yet it is slim enough to allow convenient portability. It features a red alphanumeric backlit display screen. On the other hand, Digitech RP360XP is very compact and lightweight. The small form factor makes it very easy to be brought along anywhere and anytime. In addition, the display screen now has multiple lines, providing more intuitive information and makes the reading easier.
As you can see, Digitech RP500 comes with many buttons. As the effect, the control can be a little bit complicated, and you may need some time to get used to it. On the other hand, Digitech RP360XP has a simplified design with fewer buttons and switches. Even so, the control is much more intuitive. It is easier to access and more flexible that you can change the order of effects.
Effects and Other Features
The notable features of Digitech RP500 are the dual XLR and ¼” outputs, and the five switches that can be used to turn on/off effects as well as to select five presets. It has dedicated switches for tap tempo, compression, reverb, delay, etc. As the effect, Digitech RP500 is very handy if your playing style involves lots of frequent changes in mid-performance.
On the other hand, Digitech RP360XP should be your choice if you don’t frequently change sounds mid-performance, and you don’t mind programming the footswitches patch by patch for the stompbox mode. This is because Digitech RP360XP comes with a lot more amps and effects than RP500. In fact, it has got all of the more expensive RP1000’s amps and effects except for the reverse delay. The looper also has longer maximum duration.
