Full Size vs. Reduced Scale
One of the main differences between Taylor 114ce and Taylor GS Mini is the sizes. These two guitars have been designed differently. Taylor 114ce is a grand auditorium guitar, featuring a full-length 25 ½” scale and a single cutaway. So, Taylor 114ce is great if you want to learn to play or get used to a full-size acoustic guitar. The single cutaway also increases playability, making it easier to access the frets. On the other hand, Taylor GS Mini is a Reduced Scale Grand Symphony acoustic guitar. The scale length is 23 ½”, but it is without the cutaway design. The model is generally more compact and portable.

Both Taylor 114ce and Taylor GS Mini models feature solid Sitka Spruce tops and laminate Sapele back and sides. Taylor 114ce comes with a black pickguard, whereas Taylor GS Mini comes with a tortoise pickguard. However, Taylor 114ce has a slightly better tone compared to Taylor GS Mini. This is because of the slightly bigger body projecting the sound more fully. It resonates better.

With vs. Without Preamp
Another thing to recognize is whether you want your acoustic guitar with or without electronics. Taylor 114ce is an acoustic-electric guitar. It comes readily with an integrated Taylor’s Expression System 2 pickup system, allowing you to play it plugged in. On the other hand, Taylor GS Mini does not come with any electronics. However, Taylor GS Mini allows for the installation of the ES-Go, an aftermarket passive magnetic soundhole pickup. The ES-Go is very easy to add and can be put by anyone within just a few minutes with a screwdriver.

Last but not least, Taylor 114ce is coming with a soft case. Taylor GS Mini, on the other hand, includes the hardbag case.
