Taylor 110e Review: Mid Range Price, High Class Sound

Some people prefer to play an acoustic guitar more than an electric guitar. This is because an acoustic guitar can be played freely without needing it to be plugged in. You can play it and enjoy the beautiful sound without being too loud for the environment. Another reason is that the sound of an acoustic guitar is delicate, precise, and pleasing. Plus, playing an acoustic guitar requires a certain level of skill, as you can’t afford to make mistakes in the performance.

Taylor 110e Review Mid Range Price, High Class Sound

Now, if you are looking for the best acoustic guitar, Taylor is easily one brand that should come into your mind. Taylor guitars are widely considered as the best acoustic guitars on the market. Of course, their supreme dominance is all because of their exceptional and distinctive tonal qualities. If you are now looking for a mid-range acoustic guitar, you can consider getting Taylor 110e.

Given the price, you can’t really expect Taylor 110e to come with the best and rarest components and materials. However, it has gotten the right balance nonetheless. The combination is very good. For a moderately priced acoustic guitar, Taylor 110e manages to deliver exceptional tonal qualities comparable to the more expensive acoustic guitars. It, however, is not so feature-packed; but, if you only need a simple yet nice-sounding acoustic guitar, it should be your choice.

Taylor 110e comes with a solid Sitka Spruce top, which is pretty much the standard top these days. Solid Sitka Spruce tops are used because they are good all-rounders; they are flexible, strong, and able to produce balanced tones and dynamics. The solid Sitka Spruce top is paired with laminate Sapele back and sides. Sapele is a slightly more affordable alternative of Mahogany. Sapele has quite similar warm and rich mids, as well as decent top-end clarity and snap. Just like most Taylor models, the overall sound of Taylor 110e is best described as bright, crisp, and accurate, but there is also a degree of warmth and depth that pronounce the lows and mids sufficiently.

PriceFeatures

Taylor's 110e acoustic-electric guitar incorporates layered sapele back and sides, which offer extra resilience to fluctuating climate conditions, and a slightly narrower 1-11/16" neck. It's one of the best full-size guitars you'll find for the money, especially with the availability of Taylor's ES2 pickup. It makes a viable performance tool, a great entry-level guitar, or a second utility guitar for alternate tunings.

Although laminate woods are usually considered bad for the tone, they have their own perks. With a laminate Sapele body, Taylor 110e becomes more rugged and durable. This guitar is strong enough to resist scratches, dents, and impacts. The bridge is Ebony, which is a hard and dense wood. The material performs a very good job in transferring the energy generated by the vibrations of the strings into the soundboard. Meanwhile, the saddle, pins, and nut are TUSQ, which is a high-quality synthesized material similar to bone.

Having a full-size dreadnought body, Taylor 110e is rather bulky. The non-cutaway body design creates a clean, traditional look. Due to having no cutaway, the playability isn’t so great for playing in the upper register. However, if you fancy the symmetrical hourglass contours, Taylor 110e makes a great option.
