There is a dedicated headphone output jack for private practices. There is a pair of stereo outs, too, which allow you to connect the drum kit to a PA system, amplifier, or recorder. There is a USB MIDI connection for connecting to a computer or mobile device for easy recording and virtual instrument control.
Yamaha DTX400K is slightly pricier. The parts are relatively smaller. It comes with a 7.5” snare pad, 7.5” tom pads, the Bass Drum KU100 silent kick unit, and three 10” cymbals. Interestingly, Yamaha DTX400K can grow along with your drumming skill. The drum kit is upgradeable. You can add three-zone snare, another crash cymbal, and real pedal action. It has the USB connectivity for connecting to a computer, but the MIDI capability is not straightforward. Though some users are not aware of this, it indeed can be used as a MIDI source compatible with DAWs. But, since there is no display screen, it does not control MIDI by itself.
Alesis DM6 does not have as rich of a library as Yamaha DTX400K, but the sounds are exceptional. Alesis DM6 has surprisingly convincing drum sounds. The engine really showcases the company’s experience in the industry. The playing surfaces are also very responsive, comparable to the ones of the more expensive kits. It is a great budget choice, suitable for both practices and performances.
Yamaha DTX400K comes with an incredible library of sounds. There are 297 high-quality sounds in total. The sounds are amazing enough to attract even the professionals. Combined with the compact footprint, lightweight design, and reasonably smooth response, Yamaha DTX400K presents an excellent value for the money.

Both products are great. If you are limited on your budget, you can’t go wrong with Alesis DM6. The response and audio quality are excellent. However, for the richest library, you should go for Yamaha DTX400K.
