Fender Hot Rod Deluxe III has become one of the world’s most popular guitar amplifiers. With the pair of 6L6 power tubes, Fender Hot Rod Deluxe III can give you such deep and soulful sound. And don’t forget about the brilliant spring reverb, which is greatly favored in blues, country, and rock. However, the company has also released Fender Blues Deluxe Reissue, which is described as “Fender Hot Rod Deluxe with a little bluesier warmth”. So, how does Fender Blues Deluxe Reissue vs Hot Rod Deluxe compare?
About Fender Hot Rod Deluxe
The latest version of the series, Fender Hot Rod Deluxe III, brings many improvements over its predecessors. It now has front-reading text, so dialing in settings can be much easier than ever before. It also comes with a streamlined footswitch and graduated pot tapers for the volume and treble. But the coolest feature is the Celestion G12P-80 speaker. This 12” speaker promises great power and uncompromising performance.
Fender Hot Rod Deluxe III is armed with three 12AX7 preamp tubes, two 6L6 power tubes, and one solid-state rectifier. With these components, the guitar amp can deliver impressive soaring sound. The 40-Watt output power ensures that this guitar amp can be loud enough in gigs.
This model features two inputs and three selectable channels: normal, drive, and “more drive”. The channel names are quite self-explanatory. The “more drive” channel can give you extra drive if the regular drive channel is not enough. There is also a spring reverb effect that is adjustable via the corresponding on-board knob. There is an extension speaker jack for pairing the amp with an bigger cabinet.
The bundle is great. This guitar amp comes with a two-button, three-function footswitch, which is definitely very handy. It also comes with a nice cover.

About Fender Blues Deluxe Reissue
Even though Fender Blues Deluxe Reissue is quite similar to Fender Hot Rod Deluxe, there are several unique differences. You should know that Fender Blues Deluxe Reissue has a different circuitry, which enables the amp to deliver a distinctive warmer tone. In addition, the total output power is also 40 Watts, but this model is armed with a special design Eminence speaker.
Compared to the sibling, Fender Blues Deluxe Reissue is much warmer with more bass. The sweet sound is very suitable for blues, but it can also be great in some styles of country and rock music.
The next difference between Fender Blues Deluxe Reissue vs Hot Rod Deluxe is the number of channels. This model only has two channels, which are normal and drive. After all, “extra drive” is not really a great pair for such warm tone. Last but not least, Fender Blues Deluxe Reissue is equipped with vintage-style control knobs. They certainly look classy and stylish.

Both these two models are great, but they have different characters. If you prefer a bright, soaring amp, Fender Hot Rod Deluxe should be your choice. The “extra drive” channel can be quite interesting. However, if you prefer a warmer guitar sound, Fender Blues Deluxe Reissue is the way to go.
